Welcome from Chief Meteorologist Frank Billingsley

A watershed is a land area that ultimately drains rainfall runoff (or stormwater) to a common outlet point - typically a body of water. We all live in a watershed. Watersheds come in all shapes and sizes. They cross city, county, state, and national boundaries. No matter where you are, you're in a watershed!

At KPRC Local 2 News, we’re taking steps to protect our watersheds and help Houston area residents to better understand the factors that influence their environmental quality of life. From ground water to drinking water to water quality this site provides you with great resources to help you learn more about what you can do to protect our watersheds and water. Thanks to our partnership with the Houston-Galveston Area Council and the communities in your local watershed, we're able to bring this site to you.

Take some time to look around. We have started gathering topical news stories related to our area watersheds, a calendar of events and a viewer generated image gallery of the local environment. We also welcome your feedback and suggestions for environmental topics that interest you and your family.

Each individual person can play an important role by taking everyday steps at home and in the community that can help prevent water pollution in your local watershed. We can all work together to improve our environmental quality of life. Please join us as we explore and learn more about the Houston area watersheds!
